Elpidio Mioni, the writer of Intoduction in Greek Palaeography (original title Introduzione alla Paleografica Greca, Padova, 1973), refers that scribes used to make clerical errors despite their best efforts for the contrary. They knew very well that it was inevitable not to make any error, so they ask the readers to forgive their ignorance. They claimed that once somebody writes something, he certainly makes errors.

Thus, I ask for your understanding for any error that I might have done writing my manuscripts.

Elpidio Mioni’s book (Intoduction in Greek Palaeography, transl. in Greek by N.M. Panagiotakis, National Bank of Greece Cultural Foundation, Athens, 1994) has been a precious help to this pursuit.
